I am a bit confused by this. A seller is stating that her Josefina doll is a first edition because she has a circled "1" on her neck. Is this true?

What is the difference between a first edition Josefina and Mattel Josefina that I can buy now. Are the eyebrows darker on today's dolls or is this just because they are newer dolls (or the camera)
